Rimmel Match Perfection foundation

Foundation the starting point of all make up looks. I, myself love a choice each morning. I'm also loving how foundations are now getting better shade ranges and you can find a much closer match to your skin tone. So when I saw the advert for Rimmels new Match Perfection foundation I was a little skeptical I'm not the biggest fan of Rimmel foundations. My sister has the wake me up foundation and it just didn't do anything for me. So when I saw a sample sheet with a few shades in I thought I'd have a look see what I think after all the shades were free and gave me a chance to see the formula. I found a perfect match and decided to grab the full size.

I have the very lightest which is shade 010 Light porcelain. The range has 11 shades so you should find one perfect for you. This foundation blends beautifully into the skin.

I've been wearing this a fair amount over the last few weeks. It's not normally what I go for. Its a liquid foundation and I prefer thicker more creamy bases. As long as I use a matte primer on my trouble areas this doesn't cause me and problems.

I love that there's no tell tell lines the foundations blends seamlessly into the skin. I buff it in with a brush and really work it in.

Its a pump actioned bottle so you get a measured dose when dispensing it. I find 2 pumps is enough to get a medium coverage across my face and neck. This also lasts all day and doesn't move. It leaves a nice glow to the skin I always feel as though I look more fresh and radiant wearing this.

Its a really nice light formula, doesn't feel to heavy or clogging on your skin. Over the course of the day this doesn't dry my skin out or end up with annoying patches (Unless my puppy licks my cheeks, shes a bit partial to the taste of make up!) The only thing I dislike is the smell. I'm not keen on the smell of any Rimmel foundation but I overlook this as the actual product is good.

You can purchase Rimmel at most drug stores or online here for £6.99

Have you used this foundation? What did you think? Let me know!

My must have mattes!

As I've said before I have oily skin and am prone to oil slicks on my face! To combat this I use a whole host of matte finishing products. My favourites are:

  1. MAC Studio fix concealer. I love this concealer. It is thick and gives a flawless finish to the skin. It is also a full coverage concealer which covers anything I may have on my face. Having oily skin I am prone to breakouts to a good concealer is a must. With this one I find it doesn't slide around my face and it stays on beautifully through out the day. It does crease a small amount but I so far haven't found a great full coverage concealer that doesn't to some extent. It doesn't dry shiney or gooey. A small amount really covers an awful lot. A small swipe can completely do under my eyes and round my nose. (£14.50 at MAC counters or online. Find them in House of Fraser and selected Debanhams.)
  2. Rimmel stay Matte pressed powder. I love this powder, it isn't chalky or cakey on my skin and I only need to load my brush two to three times to do my whole face and neck area. This powder keeps my foundation set all day and soaks up any unwanted oil. It keeps my skin so soft as well. (£3.99 most chemists, drug stores and super markets)
  3. Maybelline Dream Matte Mouse, This is a holy grail product for me. I could not live my life without it. For me it keeps my skin looking flawless while keeping me shine free. I know alot of other bloggers hate this foundation but I simply Love it. The colour is a perfect match for my skin tone and one jar lasts me around a month. I blend it in with my real techniques expert face brush. It doesn't sit in my pores or dry my skin out. I can put this on early morning and it still looks matte and perfect when I arrive home some hours later. Even on a night out it stays put. (£7:69 Superdrug, Boots and selected independent chemists)

A few other products to keep my skin matte

Urban Decays De Slick: This sets my skin perfectly and keeps the shine at bay. You can also use this to prime the skin by spraying onto your skin before starting your make up routine.

Urban Decays Eden primer potion: This keeps my eye lids oil free. Occasionally I find that my eye lids can become rather oily and my eye make up separates leaving greasy lines. Using Eden which is a mattifying primer potion this doesnt happen. It keeps my shadow looking exactly how I applied it that morning. With no creasing or with it sliding off.

Using all these products together I find I can achieve a better standard of make up. My make up looks better and stays on my skin much better and for much longer. It also helps keep breakouts to a minimum as I rarely swap my basic make up products.

Do you have oily skin? What products do you swear by? Which would you recommend to me? Let me know -[

Rimmel Glam eyes

Liquid Liner, every girls best friend! I never stay loyal to one liquid eye liner, There's always something for me to complain about. But finally I've found one I actually like and its been under my nose the whole time!

Rimmel Glam eye £5.29
My local Superdrug currently has an offer where if you spend £6:99 on Rimmel products you get this free. So I got this after buying my usual staples. I was a bit skeptical to use it at first as I always find liquid liners to be a bit annoying. Theres always something I hate about them no matter what brand so I switched to gel liner and didn't look back. Until I decided to give this a try, what was the worst that could happen it was a free promotional gift so I wasn't loosing in anyway.

Glam eyes brush.
I actually liked it! The handle is great. Just the right length and thickness to get a great amount of control and to apply the right pressure. The brush itself is a soft bristle brush. Normally I hate these, the bristles splay out and just make a huge mess but with this one its easy to get a neat thin line or a thicker line if you desire it. I find I can do more with one flick of the brush and do not need to go to back for more product.

Swatched.
This eye liner lasts all day without going peely or cracking like some low end eye liners do. I need my make up to last all day especially my eye make up, being at Uni I don't have time between lectures to be reapplying make up. So this fits the bill just right. It lasts all day until I remove it. It's also a nice eye liner to remove. Some eye products are pretty stubborn to take off. This one a small amount of eye make up remover on a cotton round and it comes straight off in one.

What eye liners do you use? Know of any other good liquid eye liners? Let me know =]

Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick.

Rimmels Kate Moss signature lipstick collection has been hugely successful. I love the original collection and as soon as I heard that a matte collection was on sale I made a bee line to my local Boots on my lunch break at uni to grab one.

They have the same style of packaging as the original line but to differentiate quickly between the two they have made these red. Which is great they stand out in my lipstick box which makes for easy grabbing and easy finding in your hand bag!

Colour 101 on left and 107 on the right.
I chose colours 101 and 107.

101 is a beautiful rosy pink. Which looks great day and night. The formula is the same great one you'd expect from Rimmel. For a matte colour these aren't too drying. Obviously matte colours do usually dry your lips out but its nothing a little lip balm cant fix. For a pale colour this is really opaque and blocks out the darker pink of my lips. It also lasts on my lips for a good 3 to 4 hours depending on what I'm doing.

Left to right 107 and 101
107

Photos really do not do this colour justice. It is a beautiful berry colour that sits perfectly on the lips. It's a perfect berry colour that isnt too dark or to pinky. The matte finish on these isn't too harsh like some other matte lipsticks I've tried.  I love these for an evening out or to make a day time make up look a little on the vampy side. This one being darker does have a little tendancy to bleed a little and to leave a lip line stain, but if you're like me you'll be reapplying so this wont be a problem. The great thing I love about matte lipsticks is you have 2 products in one tube. If I decide I love these colour and want to wear them out but Don't really fancy the matte finish I can just add a slick of one of my favorite lipglosses and there you have it another look.

For £5:49 these are a steal and make a great addition to anyones make up bag.

Do you have any of the other colours? Found any other great matte lippires? Let me know =]

Rimmel Stay Matte

I have oily skin so am constantly on a mission for products that keep my skin nice and matte and keep the oil slick away! Powder is the easiest thing to do this with. With a good powder I can be a bit naughty and use a liquid foundation. My all time favorite powder is Rimmel's stay matte.

Rimmel star matte powder £3.99
This powder is great for people with oily skin like mine. Using this I am sheen free all day. They have a wide range of colours to suit every skin tone as well as a translucent.

I'm quite pale in the winter I'm an NC20 so I use peach glow, which is a beautiful colour. It gives the skin a subtle glow without being too over powering, it doesn't change the colour of my foundation much at all. The one thing I love about this powder is yes at £3.99 it is pretty cheap but you don't get the usual cheap characteristics, the powder doesn't create alot of dust, it isn't chalky on the skin. It glides on effortlessly and a little goes a long way. Its a really easy powder to buff into the skin.

Do you use Rimmels stay matte? Found any other powders which keep your skin matte all day? Let me know!

Kate Moss for Rimmel

I have a bit of an obsession with lipstick at the moment. I just can't resist a pretty lip colour and how one simple item can change a whole make up look.

A while ago I came across the Kate moss for Rimmel range and saw a beautiful deep purple colour, (colour 4) and just had to have it! I'm a massive fan of the Rimmel lasting finish lipsticks already and of their moisture rich lippies. So I didn't hesitate to pick it up.

The formula is great the lipstick glides on effortlessly over the lip and their super moistuising as well. I do find where this is such a dark colour it can go on pretty patchy if I use a brush so I do put it on straight from the stick and blend the edges gently with a brush for a polished finish.

Colour 4 is a very deep plumy purple colour which makes for a nice gothy/grundgy look. I also use it along with a deep pink or a red to create an ombre look across my lips. This colour would look so stunning on someone with a deeper skin tone than mine as I am really pale so it does wash my skin out if I dont use a touch of bronzer or a warm blush.

Loving the first one as much as I do obviously I had to purchase another colour. So I picked up 26 which is a beautiful nude colour. This particular colour has a real full coverage on the lips. My lips are naturally quite pigmented and using nudes can sometimes mean I have to use a concealer to try to block out my colour or I have to really layer the colour on, But this one goes on like a dream. Its a shade that doesn't look as though I have used concealer it has a nice apricot colour to it. It smells fab like sweets. I love layering this with my Urban Decay lip junkie in midnight cowboy as this gives it a beautiful shine and really doesnt interfere with the colour of the lipstick.

With both these shades they both last for ages on the lip. I wear the nude to university and most days I've applied it around 7ish in the mornings and it doesn't need a reapply till 2 which is great for me! Means I don't have to keep getting a lip stick out and applying the colour in between lectures, when your a student you just don't have time for that.
Left 4 right 26

I have recently also purchased a nice matt colour from the collection which I'm currently trying out. I will post about this in a few days.

As with all Rimmel products you can pick them up in Superdrug and Boots stores as well as online. You can also find Rimmel in many independent chemists and supermarket stores.

Have you tried any Kate Moss for Rimmel lip sticks? Which ones are your favorites? Let me know!
